Become a Neighbor with Better Together
Neighbors are the people all around us. They can be next door, down the street or in the same city. Neighbors share common experiences with each other, no matter what age or culture.
In the LSS Better Together program, we see the participants in the program as our “Neighbors.” The participants in this program are not just recipients of volunteers’ time, but play an active part in a social relationship that can allow them to feel like they belong and are valued.
Participate in the LSS Better Together Program
To participate in the LSS Better Together program as a Neighbor, you must be living independently, over the age of 65, and must desire to take part in social activities.
Neighbors are matched with trained volunteers. There is no cost to join Better Together. Matches enjoy a variety of activities together, such as running errands, going for lunch, participating in community events or just visiting. Neighbors and volunteers simply commit to spend time together four hours per month.

Volunteers and neighbors may be involved in a variety of activities, such as playing cards, going for a walk, watching a movie, eating a meal together, going shopping, knitting or just drinking coffee and talking.
