Youth Focused Residential Treatment Center
Summit Oaks is a psychiatric residential treatment center focused on the youth. The facility is licensed to serve boys and girls ages 10 to 17 who have emotional, behavioral health and educational challenges. Summit Oaks offers a comprehensive therapeutic program and a specialized education program. Summit Oaks is located in the LSS Center for Children and Youth.
Summit Oaks Center in Sioux Falls cares for youth who are unable to function in a family environment and have a significant mental health diagnosis. With a 1:6 adult/child ratio in a structured living environment, youth learn to care for themselves and others. A child-centered, family-focused treatment plan articulates goals and plans to be accomplished during care.
Treatment Program for the Behavioral Health Needs of Kids
Summit Oaks provides a day treatment program for students referred from the Sioux Falls School District. An individualized education program is designed to meet each student's academic and behavioral health needs and to help the student reintegrate into the local school. Students receive academic instruction, case management, individual and group therapy, family counseling, and social skills development as identified in the individualized education plan, serving children in residential care.
Summit Oaks is licensed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services, accredited by the Council On Accreditation, and certified by the the State of Minnesota Department of Corrections.
