LSS Named Jonson as Vice President of Program Operations

LSS, a leading private non-profit organization dedicated to human services in South Dakota, has announced Staci Jonson as the new Vice President of Program Operations. Currently, LSS operates more than twenty services and programs throughout South Dakota—all supporting the vision of keeping children, families and communities healthy, safe and accepted.

Jonson has more than 15 years of experience working in various roles supporting children, youth and families. Since 2018, Jonson served as LSS Senior Director of Children and Youth Services, making her transition a seamless and natural progression.

Jonson's new role will extend beyond children and youth services to encompass broader oversight of agency statewide services ensuring individuals, families and communities have access to the support and resources they need to thrive. As Vice President of Program Operations, Jonson’s responsibilities also will include collaborating closely with senior leaders and directors to ensure standards of quality service and service delivery.

Amy Witt, LSS Chief Program Officer, commends Jonson's leadership, emphasizing her commitment to the agency's mission, vision, and values. “LSS sets the bar high in standards of quality service and service delivery. Staci has the capacity to continue leading the agency in reaching its strategic priorities—ultimately strengthening and empowering families.”

It was through Jonson’s employment with LSS’ Stepping Stones during college that she fell in love working with youth. “Every day was a new adventure, filled with challenges and rewards," says Jonson.

Since that first job, Jonson held diverse roles. In response to South Dakota’s juvenile justice reform, Jonson had the opportunity to be involved on the ground floor of creating the LSS Arise Youth Center in partnership with Pennington County in 2013.

Jonson is a graduate of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where she earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She furthered her education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, obtaining a master's degree in social work.
