Residential Services for Youth

Returning Home Stronger

We understand that supporting your child through challenges with their mental, emotional, or behavioral health can feel overwhelming.   At LSS, we provide a supportive space for them to heal from trauma, learn how to cope, and develop skills necessary to reach their full potential.

Our residential treatment programs—Canyon Hills Center in Spearfish and Summit Oaks Center in Sioux Falls—offer 24-hour therapeutic care for youth ages 10 to 17 in safe, nurturing group environments. Here, your child has a team to help them work through challenges and develop the skills they need to succeed at home and in their school and community.

Our Services:

We provide comprehensive psychiatric treatment for youth facing a range of mental health challenges, including:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Trauma and grief
  • Truancy and school refusal
  • Family conflict
  • Self-harm or withdrawal from social interactions
  • Multiple psychiatric hospitalizations

Our Approach:

A dedicated interdisciplinary team works closely with each youth and their family to create an individualized treatment plan.

  • Licensed therapists provide both individual and group counseling focused on:
    • Coping and anger management skills
    • Self-awareness and life skills
    • Building healthy relationships

Beyond Grateful

“Canyon Hills Center quite simply changed the direction of my son’s life. At a time when we saw only darkness ahead for him, Canyon Hills helped him to make solid decisions, recognize his disorder, and totally recalibrate his interactions with the world. To say that we are grateful to Canyon Hills would be an incredible understatement. We are beyond grateful.”
