LSS of South Dakota Issues Request for Proposals for Marketing Vendors

1. Introduction

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSS), a nonprofit organization committed to providing a broad range of services to strengthen individuals, families and communities, is seeking proposals from qualified marketing vendors. The selected partner(s) will help LSS increase public awareness, improve engagement and drive support across our diverse service lines.

As a mission-focused nonprofit, we work with a modest marketing budget and are seeking a hands-on digital marketing partner who values creativity, efficiency and practical execution. We’re especially interested in partners who enjoy working closely with small teams and making the most of limited resources.


2. Goals and Objectives

We are seeking creative, mission-aligned partners to:

  • Strengthen the LSS brand across South Dakota
  • Increase awareness of LSS services and how to access them
  • Drive donor and client engagement
  • Enhance digital presence, especially via social media, SEO and paid advertising
  • Support recruitment efforts to maintain adequate staffing

3. Scope of Work

LSS is seeking practical and cost-effective marketing support. The selected vendor or vendors will work hand-in-hand with LSS marketing and communications staff to provide services including:

Digital Marketing

  • Execution of $500+ paid digital campaigns focused on individual services lines as well as brand recognition and employee recruitment
  • Advise on the continuation and ongoing optimization of our Google grant
  • SEO, retargeting and online ad management
  • Regular performance reports with insights and recommendations
  • Website analytics consultation

Optional: Graphic Design

Design and layout of large print and digital projects

Optional: Video Production

Filming, editing and producing video

Vendors may submit proposals for all or part of the scope of work.


4. Proposal Requirements

Vendors should submit a proposal that includes the following:

  • Vendor Overview: History, mission and relevant experience
  • Portfolio: At least 2–3 examples of successful digital campaigns, including budget, analytics and return on investment
  • Approach and Methodology: How you would address our goals and manage collaboration
  • Proposed Team: Key personnel and their bios
  • Subcontractor Relationships: Information regarding any sub-vendors that may be part of the proposed team
  • Estimated Budget & Fee Structure: Retainer, hourly rates and/or project-based costs. Please include proposed charges for meetings, correspondence and commissions/fees.
  • References: Contact information for at least two current or former clients

5. Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated on:

  • Alignment with LSS mission and values
  • Demonstrated success with similar organizations
  • Strength and diversity of the team
  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Responsiveness and professionalism

6. RFP Timeline

RFP Issued: February 2, 2026

Proposal Deadline: March 6, 2026

Interviews (if needed): March 30–April 10, 2026

Selection Notification: May 1, 2026

Anticipated Project Start: June 1, 2026

8. Additional Information

LSS reserves the right to:

  • Reject any or all proposals
  • Request clarification or additional information
  • Award in whole or in part
  • Negotiate contract terms before final selection
