Functional Family Therapy
Functional Family Therapy, FFT, is a short-term, evidence-based intervention for youth with behavioral or emotional challenges. FFT is typically conducted within the family’s home, in the office or by telehealth in 12 to 14 sessions over three to five months. FFT is a family-focused intervention that is designed to strengthen overall family functioning and may help prevent or treat mental health problems, parent/child or family conflict, drug use and behavioral issues.
FFT is most effective for youth 10 to 18 years old and who have family members able to participate in their therapy. Clients often are youth transitioning back to the community or family home from placement in foster care, residential treatment or probation.
