Consumer Credit Counseling Services at LSS
LSS has offices in South Dakota, offering day and evening hours for consumer credit counseling in-person, online or by phone.
These services are designed to help you take control of your financial future.
Financial Management/Budgeting Session
A financial management/budgeting session begins with a discussion on your financial concerns, followed by a thorough review of your income, expenses, and debt. We’ll help identify the problem(s) influencing your situation and set realistic financial goals.
After completing financial counseling you will have a detailed spending plan tailored to your situation and an action plan with the specific steps necessary to accomplish your goals.
Counseling includes referrals to other services from which you might benefit. To meet the needs of families in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska, CCCS provides financial counseling in-person, over the phone and on-line by Certified Credit Counselors.
Debt Management Program
If you need help managing your money and getting out of debt, our Debt Management Program (DMP) may be for you.
We will work with your creditors to reduce your monthly payments and stop collection activity. The DMP allows you to make one monthly payment to CCCS, which is then disbursed to all of your creditors. Our DMP is not a debt settlement program – contact us to learn more about avoiding debt management scams. CCCS provides debt management programs in South Dakota and is also licensed in Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Counselors provide confidential, thorough reviews of monthly living expenses and outstanding debts. In addition, we develop detailed action plans outlining steps to accomplish your financial goals.
It is never too late to get started on the road to financial success – and we’re here to help!

- effective use of credit
- money management strategies that build strong reports and scores
- debt repaying strategies
The consultation fee is $30. Contact LSS Consumer Credit Counseling Service for more information on scheduling a confidential consultation.
You may obtain copies of your credit reports for a charge from each of the three major Credit Bureaus OR click on the link below to access your free credit report. Access your free credit report here.
Consumer Credit Counseling Service understands the decision to file bankruptcy is not an easy one to make. We provide counseling to help you through the filing process.
Bankruptcy law states you must complete a counseling session from an EOUST approved credit counseling agency* like LSS and obtain a certificate of bankruptcy counseling prior to filing for bankruptcy. Our pre-filing counseling sessions will help you review your options and make an informed decision. On average, the session is 60 minutes in length. Sessions may only be completed in person by individuals filing in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota or Nebraska.
