About Our Events
We hold a variety of events throughout the year in communities across South Dakota. Most include fundraising, and all are great ways to keep in touch with the folks who partner with our mission.
Area Dinner Benefits
The longest-running events are our Area Dinner Benefits which are held in six communities each year. Local committees volunteer their time to put on a luncheon or dinner event to raise funds for LSS of SD. Table hosts from congregations in the area invite friends, relatives, and neighbors to come hear the message about how LSS is changing lives. This is a wonderful opportunity for LSS staff to get to visit with and thank many of our supporters and for donors to learn how their gifts are making a difference.
"Get Cyc'ed" In-door Bike-A-Thon
Our newest fundraising event, 'Get Cyc'ed' is an indoor bike-a-thon, bringing together teams of family members, youth groups, businesses, congregations, and friends to ride and raise funds for LSS.
Mentor Breakfast
The School Based Mentoring program presents its Mentor Of The Year and other awards at an annual recognition breakfast held each April. Mentors, site coordinators and community partners are recognized and thanked for their service. "Taste of Cultures"
LSS Refugee & Immigration Services hosts an annual "Taste of Cultures" event in the spring to raise money to help newcomers to America. The evening includes dinner, speakers, entertainment, and silent auction. Founders Family Luncheon
Each year LSS invites all Founders Family members to a special luncheon with the LSS Board to induct new members and celebrate all Founders Family members. Members may choose to be listed anonymously in printed material, but we like an opportunity to thank members in person.
Recognition Dinner
The LSS Board of Directors hosts a recognition dinner each winter. Staff celebrating five years of service increments are recognized, along with a Volunteer Of The Year, Congregational Partner Of The Year, and a Business/Community Partner Of The Year.
